Chelsea are interested in the signing of Udinese youngster Simone Pafundi, according to reports from the Italian media.
Website Tutto Udinese is the one claiming that scouts from the Blues have recently arrived in the country to watch the player.
Born in 2006, the youngster is described as impressive ‘for his personality and idea’, and it’s pointed out that his ‘movement and quality’ are what made him be compared to Lionel Messi.
However, it doesn’t seem like Chelsea will have an easy job to sign him, because according to the report, Pafundi is only thinking of Udinese and taking their team back to Primavera’s A1 division for now.
Meanwhile, website Calciomercato also mentions a report from Il Gazzettino which mentions the Blues’ interest in the youngster. It’s said the Stamford Bridge side have been watching the player ‘with attention’ as they monitor his progress at the Italian side.
The outlet also quotes Angelo Trevisan, head of Udinese’s academy, who made some comments on Pafundi a year ago: “Simone is a young man of absolute prospect. He has immense qualities but he has to stay calm, study and train, always keeping his feet on the ground. I’m ready to bet on him, he’ll also be precocious in making his debut in the top flight”.
