A week ago, AC Milan chief Paolo Maldini revealed his side turned down a Chelsea offer for Rafael Leão in the last window.
The Premier League club are still in the mix for the forward and it has put his renewal at the San Siro on standby. His deal runs until 2024 and the Rossoneri want to offer him an extension.
Milan have offered the star a new deal worth €4.5m per year, but his agent, Jorge Mendes, is requesting €7m annually, figures which will be after tax.
That’s according to Il Milanista.
At the same time, there are other clubs interested in the Portugal international. Chelsea are tagged and they are ‘serious’ about the 23-year-old. Milan must secure his long-term future before the west London club come knocking on their door again for Leão.
Il Milanista does not make it clearh when Graham Potter’s side could make an approach for the ex-Lille man.
These details are provided by TuttoMercatoWeb. They say it is logical his renewal will be in the minds of the Milan leaders, after the Blues made an attempt for the attacker in the summer.
Chelsea would come for again for Leão, and it’s claimed the Blues ‘could return to the assault for the player’ in January, while the Italian club are strongly intent on securing his long-term future, before the next window opens.
