Anel Ahmedhodžić was a vital figure in Malmö FF’s title winning campaign in 2020.
The centre-back’s performances for the Swedish champions haven’t gone unnoticed and he’s caught attention from clubs across Europe. Chelsea are one of the clubs keeping track of the 21-year-old.
On November 9th, the defender’s father accused his son’s agent of blocking a move to the west London club, but this suggestion was dismissed by the player.
Markus Rosenberg represents the Bosnia and Herzegovina international and the agent has already admitted there’s ‘enormous’ interest in his client.
Kvällposten in Sweden once again talk about Frank Lampard’s side as one of the suitors for the player, along with PSV Eindhoven, Ajax and Atalanta.
Malmö sporting director Daniel Andersson has responded with “no comments” when asked about Ahmedhodžić, and on some occasions, he has refused to respond at all.
According to Kvällposten, there’s a reason for the aforementioned stance maintained by Andersson, as he is waiting to see the range in which his side would receive bids for their star.
It’s claimed the Swedish side have set a ‘secret price’ tag as Andersson wants a minimum fee of around SEK 82.5m (€8.11m).
Zlatan Ibrahimović is currently the club’s most expensive sale as Malmö earned SEK 82.3m from his move to Ajax.
The report adds that it’s no longer a secret that Malmö will ‘most likely sell’ the Bosnian, but they want him to be the club’s most expensive sale.
Kvällposten’s latest report only focuses on Ahmedhodžić’s asking price. With Chelsea named as one of the suitors, it remains to be seen whether the Blues will invest in a new centre-back, especially after signing Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr (now on loan at FC Porto) in the summer.
