For what seems like years, at the end of every transfer window there’s been a Hakan Calhanoglu to ‘insert Premier League club here’ transfer rumour. And this time it’s Chelsea’s turn again.
Turkey’s Fanatik report Chelsea are ready to submit a £15m offer for Bayer Leverkusen’s midfielder.
The newspaper state Conte likes what he’s seen from Calhanoglu and could follow up with a bid. Two months ago we covered claims from the Turkish Press which said Calhanoglu told his national team manager Fatih Terim that he’s going to sign for Chelsea.
It was stated Chelsea had started talks with Bayer Leverkusen and a possible fee was put at €20m.
The Blues have reportedly been scouting Calhanoglu continuously this season, and the 22-year old free kick maestro is enjoying another good season with Bayer 04. Calhanoglu has scored 5 goals and provided 6 assists in 20 games this season, and his team knocked Tottenham out in the Champions League Group stage.
Conte apparently thinks Calhanoglu could be a great No.10 on his 3-4-3 formation and has urged the Chelsea board to splash the cash to get him. The problem is their initial offer may be too low in this current market.
