Chelsea made a decision against signing Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar in the summer, according to today’s El País.
The forward was curious about the Blues’ proposal. They were willing to take him on loan and pay €10m in wages, which is a quarter of his salary at Parc de Princes.
PSG were ready to pay rest of his salary had it not been for the French law, as warned by their lawyers.
Chelsea were not willing to exceed €10m in salary because the 30-year-old had completed a ‘painful season’ and weighed seven kilos more in July.
The west London club have ‘changed their mind’ about the Brazil international. It’s said that ‘Todd Boehly’s club approve’ the investment of €40m per year, which is the player’s net salary, to bring him to Stamford Bridge, provided he maintains current his form.
Despite all this, the report states PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s priority is to keep Kylian Mbappé and get rid of the South American, either through loan or ‘even find an extravagant exit route’.
“Here they have been studying for months how to pay Neymar the highest settlement in the history of sport, about €300m,” A PSG source has told El País.
This would come as a welcome boost for Chelsea, who seem to once again be interested to sign Neymar.
