For a while now, Chelsea have been linked with Matthijs De Ligt.

The move makes sense, since he’s a very good centre-back, and the Blues need some of those after the confirmed departure of Antonio Rüdiger and expected exit of Andreas Christensen.

They aren’t the only ones interested, however, as Liverpool, fresh off losing both the Premier League and the Champions League, are reportedly working on something too.

This comes from Corriere dello Sport, who look at the Dutchman’s situation at Juventus, and the belief is the main threat comes ‘first of all from England and Chelsea’.

As we said above, none of this is new, because ‘the Blues had already moved in the recent past but always found a wall’.

However, the change of ownership could make things a bit easier, as they are ‘ready to fulfil the requests of manager Thomas Tuchel, who has targeted both De Ligt and the French Koundé of Sevilla’.

Regarding Liverpool, they are ‘also on the horizon’, as Klopp’s ‘crazy idea’ could be to ‘recompose the starting pair of the Dutch national team at club level, with De Ligt alongside Van Dijk’.

We’ll see what comes of this, because the former Ajax starlet will be very expensive, and with Liverpool seemingly splashing the cash on Darwin Nuñez, they might not have all that much left in the bank.

Plus, they already have a good depth at centre-back, which the same cannot be said about Chelsea.
