Chelsea have been named as a candidate to sign RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo in the summer. This is reported by today’s edition of Croatian newspaper 24 Sata.
The Spain international left Barcelona to join Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in 2015 and he spent five years with them before joining the Bundesliga side in 2020.
Olmo is currently at Leipzig, where he has a deal that lasts until 2027. The report states it includes a €60m release clause and Chelsea are ‘ready to activate’ it in the next window.
Dinamo Zagreb sold the 25-year-old to the Bundesliga side for €29m and will be entitled to receive 20% of the fee from his sale in the future. This is why 24 Sata are talking about Chelsea’s willingness to buy the winger in the summer.
It’s worth noting there’s no mention of whether the player is willing to join the Blues, if they decide to activate his buyout clause.
Chelsea are the third Premier League side to be named as an Olmo suitor today, after Bild earlier reported that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are in the picture to sign him.
They had also mentioned his €60m clause and it feels like someone from Olmo’s camp is using the media to send out a message about his clause.
