Chelsea are one of several clubs interested in Sparta Prague youngster Adam Hlozek and could rival RB Leipzig for his signature.
That’s according to Bild, who report on the Blues as a potential problem for Leipzig in their hunt to find a replacement for Timo Werner.
Werner, of course, is set to join Chelsea in the summer after Frank Lampard’s side beat the competition to secure his signature.
The German striker’s departure has left Leipzig with a huge problem to solve this summer, namely replacing a forward who has 32 goals and 13 assists in 44 games for the club this season.
According to Bild, there are three candidates currently on the list for Leipzig, Milot Rashica, Hee-Chan Hwang and 17 year old Hlozek.
The latter has been in excellent form for Sparta Prague this season, with four goals and eight assists in 29 games so far.
That has earned him plenty of attention, with many labelling him ‘the hottest player in the Czech league’.
Leipzig have had him ‘under observation’ for months, but they are not the only ones, with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund also described as having him ‘under scrutiny’.
Whether either side is ready to make a move isn’t mentioned but because of the competition, and the fact he has a deal under 2022, it will take at least €15m to secure his signature.
That would be a relatively easy fee for Chelsea to pay, particularly if Abramovich continues to leave his chequebook open this summer, and Hlozek is the kind of signing that makes sense.
The Blues aren’t light on forward options after signing Werner, but perhaps Lampard is eyeing up the youngster, who can play anywhere across the front three, as an ideal man to bring in with the likes of Willian and Pedro both moving on.
