On Thursday, we relayed news from Italy that Chelsea are one of the clubs to have AC Milan’s Ismaël Bennacer on their transfer agenda.

The west London club’s interest in signing the midfielder is now discussed by Alfredo Pedullà, who also provides an update on his contract situation at the San Siro.

With a deal expiring in 2024, the 25-year-old has changed agents and is now managed by Enzo Raiola. The new representative will have a meeting Milan chief Paolo Maldini next week to discuss his client’s renewal.

Bennacer has given his willingness to commit his long-term future to the Serie A winners, but it will not happen for a deal less than €4m per year plus bonuses.

The outlet then talks about Chelsea and Manchester United. It’s claimed the Red Devils are in the mix to sign Bennacer, but they don’t have the same appeal as Graham Potter’s side.

Regarding the Blues, it’s said they appreciate the Algeria international ‘a lot’ and ‘would put €40m on the table’ to take him away from the Rossoneri in the January window.

There will be better clarity on the player’s future at Milan after his agent’s meeting with Maldini next week.

It’s possible the Premier League sides are getting dragged into the mix by Bennacer’s camp in order to put pressure on Milan to hand him an improved deal.
