Chelsea are continuing to ‘push’ to sign Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona as they look to replace Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo and Sport, who both cover the Blues efforts to sign the striker today.
The Blues forward line has been left short this summer after they elected to let Romelu Lukaku return to Inter Milan and Werner RB Leipzig.
It’s left Armando Broja as the only recognised centre-forward in Thomas Tuchel’s squad, something they are keen to address.
Mundo state that they have ‘set their sights’ on the Gabonese striker and ‘continue to press’ for a deal.
This is backed up by Sport, who say they are ‘pushing hard’ and while Barcelona would like to keep him, it will depends on the economic offer presented.
On that front, Mundo say that Chelsea are tempting Aubameyang, offering him a ‘good salary’ as well as the title of first choice striker.
That’s something he won’t have at Barcelona this season, where he will be playing second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski.
Both newspapers say that Aubameyang’s intermediaries met with Barcelona to present Chelsea’s offer, with Barca tempted as the striker is set for a ‘quite notorious salary increase’ this year.
Sport say if a ‘good offer’ arrives it will be considered while Mundo state that those in charge are tempted by a sale as it would bring in a ‘large net income’ because he signed on a free in January.
Mundo, meanwhile, say the offer from Chelsea would have to be ‘dizzying’ if Barcelona were to accept a deal, so the ball is very much in their court at this moment in time.
