CSKA Moscow’s Aleksandr Golovin is being linked to clubs all over Europe, given his good start to the World Cup with Russia.

Whether it be in Italy, Spain, England or Russia that a possible transfer is reported, Chelsea keep popping up.

A lot of that could be down to an assumption Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would like to sign a top player from his own country, and would certainly have the right connections in place to do so.

Another current Russia international, Yuri Zhirkov, made the move from CSKA to Chelsea in 2009.

Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona see the player as a ‘market opportunity’. The Catalan club haven’t made a move yet and it’s just a consideration right now, but Mundo Deportivo believe there’d be competition.

Chelsea are said to be ‘on the prowl’ and Juventus get a mention, with the Italian side also being repeated linked over the past week or so.

It’s believed Golovin would count as an EU player thanks to a 2015 test case from former Tenerife player Igor Simutenkov.

Earlier today we covered comments Golovin’s former CSKA Moscow teammate, Roman Shirokov, had given to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Shirokov sounded optimistic about Chelsea’s chances in any battle for the player: “I know there’s been contact between the player and Juventus, but we’ll have to see what CSKA think of it. There’s no deadline for Golovin, and the CSKA president knows how to manage the market, both for arrivals and departures.

“With this World Cup, Golovin’s value is increasing, and there could be a real auction for him. In this case, I see the English teams as favourites, especially Chelsea.”
