Chelsea are keen to sign Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt and are studying various formulas to secure the centre-back’s services this summer.
An offer of €40m fee plus Timo Werner didn’t end up convincing the Serie A side.
At the weekend, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the Blues wouldn’t be against the idea of including Jorginho and Christian Pulisic as part of the deal for the defender. However, the Old Lady aren’t pleased with this formula either.
The Brazil-born Italy international has less than 12 months left on his contract at Chelsea. Back in May, the midfielder’s agent, João Santos, admitted his client’s priority is to continue at Stamford Bridge.
Santos has given an interview to TuttoMercatoWeb, and discussed several topics related to Serie A.
With regards to the ongoing window, he said: “We are still at the beginning. It will be a very cautious market. Targeted.”
TMW then specifically asked the agent about his client and what Jorginho plans to do this summer.
Responding to that, Santos explained: “Chelsea are the priority. The contract will expire in 2023, I think we will talk about the renewal from September.”
Santos’ comments make it clear Chelsea may find it hard to include Jorginho as part of a deal to sign another player.
