Chelsea ‘have no intention’ of giving up on Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei, despite the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say the Blues are ‘preparing a new offer’ for the 19-year-old.
Chelsea made an initial €8m bid for the youngster over the weekend, which was rejected by Inter, who are not keen on losing the player.
It had been felt that after the deal for Chukwuemeka the Blues would give up their efforts but it seems that is not the case.
They ‘have not stopped looking’ for talented youngsters and are not giving up on their pursuit of Casadei either.
Chelsea face competition from Sassuolo for the player and Corriere state that the two sides are in an ‘unbalanced head-to-head’.
According to their information, the feeling is that Chelsea’s next offer will be in the double figures, perhaps €10-12m, and given Inter’s valuation is €15m, that could prove difficult for the Italians to resist.
Sassuolo have an advantage, though, as they are willing to guarantee a buy-back clause is included in the deal. That is not something Chelsea would offer in any deal.
The race is on, either way, and in Italy they believe Chelsea will be returning with a new bid for Casadei at some point.
