Chelsea aren’t giving up on Kalidou Koulibaly. At least, that’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The London club are desperate for a new centre-back before the closing of the transfer window, and have been pursuing the Senegalese defender throughout the summer, without much luck.
The player expressed a desire to leave early on, but Napoli made it clear they wouldn’t be letting him go, and have so far batted away any attempt from Chelsea to prise him away.
The Italian newspaper claim the Stamford Bridge contingent are ready to offer €55m + €3m for K2, which Gazzetta describe as an ‘astonishing’ one.
They say Aurelio De Laurentiis could be tempted by this, mostly because of the amount being offered, but the Italian owner’s wish remains to keep Koulibaly by making him sign a renewed contract.
This has been ongoing for so long that it could even drag all the way to transfer deadline day.
At this rate, we wouldn’t be surprised if €60m was being talked about next week.
