Kai Havertz’s move to Chelsea is edging closer and closer after the Bayer Leverkusen star left Germany’s camp this morning to “clarify matters surrounding a potential move” to Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old is set to become the latest arrival at the west London club after they added Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr within a period of three days in the last week of August.

Sarr joined the Blues on a free transfer and signed a five-year contract. Chelsea had already confirmed the centre-back will go out on loan for the 2020/21 season.

Fussball Transfers in Germany now states the 21-year-old could join Leverkusen on a temporary deal.

It’s claimed the lines between the two clubs have been ‘hot’ in recent days because they were involved in negotiating Havertz’s transfer. During the discussions, the Bundesliga side requested Sarr on loan.

Leverkusen were interested in signing the France U21 international before he agreed to join Chelsea.

The report states they still maintain an interest in him as their manager, Peter Bosz is looking for a left footed centre-back in the market. The Frenchman profile fits the bill.

With Havertz on the verge of joining Chelsea, FT state Sarr ‘could’ move in the opposite direction.
