On October 29th, we covered claims made by journalist Ciro Venerato regarding Napoli’s interest in Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri.
Venerato reported the Serie A side have had ‘two talks’ with the 26-year-old’s entourage and the Blues defender is a ‘dream’ signing for Gennaro Gattuso.
Area Napoli now explains the Naples club are looking for a new left-back and have two names in their list.
It’s claimed the Italian club, through their sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli have identified players who could suit their manager, and the Brazil-born Italy international and PAOK’s Dimitris Giannoulis are looked at as two options.
Out of the two, Giuntoli’s ‘priority’ is to sign Frank Lampard’s man. The report adds the west London club have ‘put him up for sale’ in the next window.
Emerson ‘would be happy’ to say ‘yes’ to Gattuso’s side. However, he will ‘hardly be satisfied’ with a normal salary because the player is looking for a pay rise after his experience at Stamford Bridge.
Area Napoli states Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia would allow the fullback to join Napoli on ‘loan with obligation of redemption’.
Napoli, who share a good relationship with the English club, are looking to take Emerson in the winter market. They will also try to ‘snatch a right of redemption, postponing the definitive purchase to the next year’.
