Last week, we covered German journalist Florian Plettenberg talking about the chances of Timo Werner’s departure from Chelsea. With a tense relationship between the striker and manager Thomas Tuchel, it was claimed the ‘tendency’ was that the player would leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
The reporter is now back with an update on the situation, this time talking about specific destinations which have been mentioned in the past couple of days.
First speaking of a return to RB Leipzig, he claims Werner going back to his old club is ‘an option for all parties’. Still, it’s pointed out that the possibility is ‘still at an early stage’ and ‘it would be a long way to go’.
Since Plettenberg also received many questions regarding Werner potentially moving from Chelsea to Bayern Munich, he insists the player is ‘no topic’ for the Bundesliga giants. The Bavarian club are in no need of a new centre-forward, and that possibility is ruled out.
So this move to Leipzig seems to be the only scenario for now, and that could be a sign that Werner’s stay at Chelsea is a real possibility, in case the talks don’t advance.
