Over the past few months, Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan.

On December 25th, we covered claims from France that despite interest from the Ligue 1 clubs, the striker’s priority was to join the Nerazzurri.

A week ago, FcInterNews explained the World Cup winner was Antonio Conte’s ‘first choice’ target, but it was explained that Inter must find a solution for Matteo Politano.

Politano has now completed a switch to Napoli and Gabriel Barbosa has finally joined Flamengo on a permanent deal. On the other hand, the Serie A side secured the services of Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent transfer.

With Eriksen’s arrival, FcInterNews now claims Giroud’s impending move to San Siro has ‘stalled’ because Inter consider their squad is complete for the second half of the season.

Despite the ‘longstanding understanding’ between the France international and Conte’s side, ‘pessimism is now filtering’ for Giroud’s arrival at Inter because they have blocked any more potential signings in the winter market.
