RB Leipzig have been credited with interest in bringing Chelsea’s Timo Werner back to the club this summer.
On August 3rd, the German club’s director, Christopher Vivell, confirmed his side’s interest. He also made it clear that Leipzig are “not close” to completing a deal.
There has been a development in the deal to take the Chelsea player to the Bundesliga side. That’s according to Sky Deutschland, who explain 26-year-old’s return to Leipzig is ‘nearing competition’.
Lot of movements in the negotiations for Werner in the last few days have dragged things forward.
The Germany international has no regular place under Thomas Tuchel at the west London club, and the Blues manager left the attacker out of the squad in their 1-0 win over Everton on Saturday.
Werner’s situation at Chelsea has attracted interest from Juventus, but he wants to join his old club. The report explains he has been in ‘regular contact’ with Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff.
It’s not clear whether Werner will return to Leipzig on a loan deal with an option to buy or a fixed transfer. The final details, as per the report, would be ‘clarified promptly’.
Tuchel’s man wants to go to Leipzig to have more prominence and regain his best form for the Qatar World Cup.
