This week, we’ve been covering reports from the Italian media which detail Tiemoue Bakayoko’s current situation at Napoli.
On loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, the midfielder had a good performance at the weekend which raised some doubts on his potential exit from the Serie A side.
Outlets such as Corriere di Mezzogiorno, however, claimed Napoli are not signing him permanently, as he’s had too many ups and downs to convince the club.
Now it’s Bakayoko’s brother who comes up to explain his situation. Abdoulaye Bakayoko, who also woks as his agent, spoke to Calcio Napoli 24 and talked about the player’s current spell in Italy.
“It’s a good moment for Tiemoue and for Napoli, he’s back in the running for the Champions League qualification also thanks to his goal against Torino,” said Abdoulaye Bakayoko.
“He’s very happy to play for Napoli, they are one of the biggest teams in the Italian league. I have a lot of respect for the coach Gennaro Gattuso, this year in Napoli is definitely a good experience. He’s been happy with the city and the team in recent months, finding Gattuso after his experience at Milan was fundamental.”
Quizzed about Bakayoko’s future, his brother admitted there’s nothing set yet, as Napoli are still to show if they’ll make any efforts to get him on a permanent deal.
“I don’t know what his future will be, if he can stay in blue or not. In the case of the Champions League, things could change, of course: he wants to play it, it’ll also depend on Napoli if they want to keep him or not. There’s no mandatory redemption, it’ll also depend on Napoli’s economic possibilities.”
Finally asked if the midfielder wants to stay at Napoli, Abdoulaye made sure to dodge the question.
“His will, although he feels comfortable in the blue, will depend on what Napoli want to do with Chelsea, before he can express his opinion on the matter.”
