N’Golo Kante won’t be available for Thomas Tuchel for Wednesday evening’s match against Juventus, and the same will be the case at the weekend against Southampton in the Premier League.
The midfielder testing positive for Covid-19 means he has to go through a period of isolation. In France, there’s still some small hope the midfielder may be available for the country’s second match of the international break, however, there’s not a great deal of confidence behind that, reported L’Equipe on Wednesday morning.
AS take a look at the situation from Saul’s perspective, and whilst they state both that Saul and Kante are different types of midfielder, and that the Spaniard’s main issue is his lack of form right now, they still manage to make the situation sound dramatic.
According to AS, if Thomas Tuchel doesn’t pick Saul to start tonight against Juventus, then it will be a ‘major setback to his confidence’.
Other Chelsea players are also unavailable, so Saul will fancy his chances nevertheless.
Whilst in isolation the comment from AS means little, there appears to be growing murmurs in Spain about Saul’s loan move from Atletico Madrid not working out how the player had hoped.
