Chelsea defender Thiago Silva ‘regularly talks’ to Neymar, with the topic of a move to Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain this summer among those discussed.
That’s according to Le Parisien, who say the centre-back’s recent comments regarding Neymar joining him at Stamford Bridge were not simply passing remarks.
They cover today how Neymar could be set to depart Paris this summer, with both him and the club having grown slightly disillusioned by their relationship.
That’s opened the door to a potential exit, and Chelsea could be an option, something Silva hinted at in his recent comments.
The newspaper explains how the pair nourish a ‘spirit of revenge’ when it comes to the French giants and Silva ‘plays on this feeling’ in an effort to ‘convince’ his former teammate to make the move.
For it to happen, it would have to be sanctioned by both Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly and coach Thomas Tuchel, who also worked with the Brazilian at PSG.
Those two are currently dreaming of a deal for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, and Silva’s comments should be seen in light of that as a desire to ‘tip the balance’ in favour of his compatriot rather than the Frenchman.
Whether Neymar open to the idea is up for debate, with him eyeing a ‘top exit’ this summer should he leave PSG.
He does not intend to move to Newcastle, despite them having to the money to make the move happen, while Manchester United is out of the question unless Cristiano Ronaldo departs.
That gives Chelsea a free run at the deal if they want it, with silva working in the background to convince Neymar of the switch.
