Andreas Christensen ‘will be a Barca player this week’, report Catalan newspaper Sport on Monday.
Last week we covered claims from Spain that the Chelsea defender had already undergone medical tests with Barcelona. Sport now explain that was just the first part of the medical, and the second part is set to be conducted today.
Should the Denmark international fly through the tests, which is the expected outcome, then the report says only the signature will be missing to complete his transfer to Barcelona.
That signature will arrive in the coming days, and Sport claim the Chelsea man’s agents will travel between Tuesday and Thursday, to complete the paperwork on the move.
Christensen’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the current season, and he’s therefore able to move elsewhere as a free agent.
Bayern Munich had been interested, however, it’s seemed clear for weeks that Barcelona were likely to win the race.
Sport report the player will sign a five year contract, and will earn around €6m a season, a figure likely to be after tax.
