A week ago, La Nazione reported Fiorentina want to sign Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei but are ‘far away’ from meeting the Premier League side’s €20m request.
The midfielder was on loan at Leicester City last season, where he made only eight league starts under Enzo Maresca’s orders. The manager has taken over at the west London club, but the 21-year-old is unlikely to be included in his plans next season.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the player is training alone and waiting to leave Chelsea.
The Italy U21 international has received approaches from the Premier League. The report hasn’t provided the names of those clubs, and it’s claimed the player isn’t considering them because his priority is to make a switch to Serie A.
Fiorentina and Torino have shown interest, with La Viola ahead.
It’s claimed Fiorentina’s idea is to take Casadei on loan, probably by including an option to buy or a conditional purchase obligation. In order to convince Chelsea to sanction a loan move, the Serie A side are willing to cover the midfielder’s full salary.
Calciomercato state Fiorentina held talks last week, likely with the Italian’s camp, and will hold fresh talks again in the ‘next few days’.
Casadei feels a move to Serie A could improve his chances of representing Italy’s senior team, and this is one of the reasons he hasn’t considered joining another Premier League side.
