It looks like Fiorentina’s pursuit for Chelsea full-back Davide Zappacosta should soon have a happy ending, as some steps for the transfer are already being taken.

As reported by La Nazione (via Firenze Viola) today, the Italian side are close on agreeing the sale of Pol Lirola to Olympique Marseille, following a loan spell he had in France last season.

That means a spot for the right-back position will be open, and Fiorentina should finally make an effort to sign Zappacosta from Chelsea.

It’s claimed the 29-year-old is now ‘closer’ to joining La Viola, as the Blues have no interest in keeping him in the squad.

Chelsea, however, are demanding around €6m to let him go, and Fiorentina must match that price to get the deal done.

Zappacosta had already spent the last couple of years in Italy, as he had loan spells at Roma and Genoa, but now it looks like he could leave on a permanent deal this time around.
