Chelsea player ‘needs a fresh start’ – Blues want ‘big offer’ in January, big decision to make this season

Currently suffering from a thigh injury, Trevoh Chalobah has yet to step on a pitch in a Chelsea shirt this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

This is the same defender who was very much wanted by Bayern Munich, but fitness issues have plagued him of late, meaning other players have now taken his spot in the pecking order.

Gazzetta dello Sport look at the Chelsea man’s situation on Friday, and explain that, at this point, the 24-year-old ‘needs a fresh start’.

He needs minutes once he is fit, and there is no guarantee that he will get them at Stamford Bridge when looking at all the players the London side have bought of late.

Whether that happens in the Premier League or abroad remains to be seen, and Gazzetta reckon ‘it will depend on the name of the club’ that comes forward and the project that ends up being put in front of him.

As for Chelsea, the belief is that ‘unless there is a big offer’ in January for their defender, they would be ‘more inclined’ to let him go out on loan for six months and ‘then decide in July’ what to do with him long-term.

It’s worth remembering the player signed a new contract back in November of last year that ties him to the Blues until 2028, meaning they have all the leverage in negotiations going forward.
