Chelsea fullback Marcos Alonso is set to return to training with the squad, even though that doesn’t mean he’s stopped wanting to leave the club this summer.
Catalan outlet Sport reports that the player had been given permission to enjoy ‘a few days of leave’ while Barcelona negotiated his purchase. However, with the talks not having a significant advance, he’s set to rejoin his teammates.
That isn’t a sign that the transfer isn’t happening. Barça are still said to be ‘confident’ that the operation can go through in the coming days. Alonso’s return to activity at Chelsea is more of an action for him to be fit once the move actually happens.
The Camp Nou side are said to be working on the final details to register Jules Kounde. That’s expected to be done in the next couple of days, and then they shall resume their operation for the fullback.
Sport points out that Alonso wanted to have his departure sorted out at the weekend, and continues to wait for the clubs to do it. He’s expected to leave Chelsea for around €8m.
