Earlier on Saturday we covered claims from Gazzetta dello Sport about the future of Romelu Lukaku.
On the Italian newspaper’s front page it was explained the Belgium international is prepared to take a pay cut to secure a return to Inter Milan. Inside the newspaper, the article said a move is possible if Chelsea allow the player to leave on loan in the summer window.
Calciomercato carry similar claims, and even say Lukaku has been in contact with his former Inter teammates, hinting at a quick return to the Serie A side.
According to the report, the striker knows he’s ‘made a huge mistake’ in leaving Inter for Chelsea. His return to Stamford Bridge has been ‘disastrous from all points of view’, and this frame of mind started ‘weeks ago’ so is not simply related to the sanctions on Roman Abramovich and, by extension, on the Blues.
Lukaku is ‘willing to do anything’ to secure the move, including taking a pay cut… something which Gazzetta also explained.
The player is said to have been sending ‘see you soon’ type messages to Inter players, albeit sent in a lighthearted manner.
Calciomercato put forward the possibility of a two year loan with a redemption obligation at the end for around €45m. Inter aren’t jumping forward right now, given they haven’t hugely missed Lukaku, but are certainly intrigued by the situation.
