With the end of the transfer window fast approaching in Europe, there are still a handful of players scrambling to get themselves a move.
One such player is Tiemoue Bakayoko. The midfielder is out of favour at Chelsea, having failed to make the grade at the club since a £40m move there in 2017.
He spent last season on loan at AC Milan, but they decided not to turn it into a permanent one, and he has spent this summer trying to find himself a new home once again.
It appears he has now succeeded in that hunt, with L’Equipe reporting he is ‘on the verge’ of re-joining former club Monaco.
The newspaper claims Monaco and Chelsea have struck an agreement for the French midfielder that will see him spend this season on loan in Ligue 1, with the French side paying €2.5m to make it happen.
The move will include a purchase option at the end, with the two clubs now negotiating what the price will be. It’s currently ‘around €30m’, with this issue seen as the ‘last hurdle’ to be overcome before the move can be completed.
L’Equipe are confident the move will happen, though, with them stating Bakayoko’s return to France ‘should be made official today’.
