Denmark U21 manager Steffen Højer called up Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen for this month’s international break.
The 22-year-old featured in the defeat to Iceland U21 last week. He also featured in the 5-0 win over Czech Republic U21 on Monday. He was forced to leave the pitch early ‘due to an injury’.
That’s according to Campo, who make no mention of the setback suffered by the Chelsea player.
Cremonese’s Andreas Jungdal replaced the Blues stopper in the final quarter in the UEFA U21 qualifiers yesterday. After the tie, the Denmark U21 coach was asked for an update about Jørgensen’s situation.
Højer has admitted he had a chat with Jørgensen. However, the manager isn’t aware of the nature of the injury, but it was bad enough that he couldn’t complete the full 90 minutes.
“I don’t really know. He’s being checked. I don’t know how bad it went, but it was certainly [bad] enough for him to go off,” he said.
“I just asked if he was okay. He was annoyed that he had to go off, but hopefully it is not something that is really wrong.”
There should be more clarity about Jørgensen’s injury in the next few days.
Jørgensen arrived at the west London club from Villarreal in the summer window. He’s made two appearances for Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers this season. Enzo Maresca has preferred Robert Sánchez ahead of the Dane in the Premier League.
