Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is on Barcelona’s transfer agenda this summer and efforts are being made by the Blaugrana to secure his services.

On Tuesday, Mundo Deportivo reported the left-back’s agent has held talks with Marina Granovskaia, who has retained her position at the club, even after the change of ownership at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea player is currently with Spain, preparing for their upcoming international fixtures.

A ‘confidential’ report from Sport states the defender ‘feels very optimistic’ about making a switch to the Camp Nou as there are positive sensations the deal would be carried out.

With a year left on his contract, Chelsea are open to letting the 31-year-old leave in the summer window.

Barca also have César Azpilicueta on their transfer agenda, but Sport state it is ‘much more feasible’ for them to sign his compatriot because the Blues are not open to letting their captain leave.

Alonso is aware he will have to provide competition and cover to Jordi Alba at the Catalan club.

Chelsea have changed owners, but this shouldn’t affect the move.

Sport explain the deal is at an ‘advanced stage’ and the fee would be ‘within reach’ of the La Liga side, who are struggling with their finances.
