Olivier Giroud returned to action for the first time in over two months during Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Monday.
The striker’s current deal with the Europa League winners expires after this season, so appearances help remind potential new clubs that Giroud still exists.
He was keen on leaving the Blues in January, but a transfer never materialised. Frank Lampard blocked his exit because the west London club couldn’t bring in a replacement in the same window.
Lazio were one of the clubs credited with an interest in the France international.
According to Le10 Sport, the Serie A side remain interested in the former Arsenal man and their idea is to take him on a free transfer in the summer. Therefore, Simone Inzaghi’s side have sent a ‘very concrete proposal’ to the 33-year-old.
However, the player is yet to take a decision as he has also received offers from Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.
Lack of opportunities at Chelsea this season could have an impact on Giroud’s chances of making it to the France squad for Euro 2020.
