Chelsea are in the picture to sign Villarreal duo Pau Torres and Álex Baena, according to claims from Spain.
The centre-back has two years left on a deal that includes a €65m release clause. As per La Razón, the La Liga side will be forced to negotiate his sale for less than his clause if the 25-year-old decides against signing a renewal.
Chelsea and the defender’s other suitors will ‘try to take advantage’ of this situation after this season, if he doesn’t sign a new deal with Unai Emery’s side.
The Blues considered the Spain international in the last window but ended up signing Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana to bolster their defence. It’s claimed the west London club will return for Torres in the next summer market.
He isn’t the only one on Chelsea’s agenda as they are also looking at Baena. La Razón explain the Premier League clubs are threatening the winger’s continuity with the Yellow Submarine.
It’s said Chelsea are among a few English clubs following the 21-year-old attacker. His deal runs down in 2025 and includes a €35m release clause. Villarreal are working to raise it and extend his contract until 2027 or 2028.
