Chelsea forward Pedro is eyeing up a move to Roma this summer once his deal with the Blues expires.
That’s according to CalcioMercato.it, who report that the Spaniard has ‘not yet found an agreement’ with Chelsea to finalise the season.
The forward’s contract is up at the end of June, and he has made it clear in recent months that neither he nor the club want an extension.
However, FIFA’s new rule stipulates that clubs can find an agreement with expiring players to extend their contracts until the end of their respective seasons.
Chelsea, though, have so far failed to find such an agreement with Pedro and there is plenty of ‘uncertainty’ about the situation, although he hopes to have it dealt with before Chelsea return to action against Aston Villa on Sunday 21st June.
Regardless of that, his future lies away from Stamford Bridge, and the website reports that Roma are at the top of his list.
The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to the Serie A club for several months and he ‘wants’ that move.
He has received ‘important polls’ from Qatar, the Premier League and La Liga but has ‘convinced himself’ that a move to Rome is his best option.
Thus, he ‘waits confidently’ for them to close a deal, and Roma are ‘optimistic’ it will happen, although they need to ‘close a couple of transfers’ before they can do so.
Chief among these is a move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who they are keen to secure on a permanent deal after his loan spell from Arsenal this season.
Reports today indicated they are negotiating a deal for the Armenian that could also see Justin Kluivert go to the Emirates for €30m plus, thus giving Roma the money they need to finalise a move for Pedro.
