On Sunday, Chelsea sent a scout to Denmark to follow FC Midtjylland’s 2-1 league win over FC Nordsjælland at the MCH Arena.

That’s according to Tipsbladet, who explain Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan had all sent officials to Herning to closely follow some players.

Franculino opened the scoring for the hosts in the 54th minute and it was assisted by Aral Şimşir. Sindre Walle Egeli assisted Benjamin Nygren’s equaliser for Nordsjælland in the 76th minute before Midtjylland’s Pedro Bravo scored the late winner.

Midtjylland’s Aral Şimşir, Darío Osorio, Franculino and Ousmane Diao are all likely to have attracted attention.

The report explains Chelsea, Bayern Munich and the Rossoneri would have ‘taken notes’ of some Nordsjælland players. They indicate Sindre Walle Egeli and Lucas Høgsberg could have been on their agenda.

Sindre Walle Egeli is an 18-year-old Norway international forward and has managed five goals and four assists this season. Høgsberg, 18, operates mainly as a centre-back and played 18 games for the Danish club.

The duo could have been sold for DKK 200m [€26.8m] in the winter market if their club wanted to. Nordsjælland could probably cash in from their sales in the summer window.

Over the years, Nordsjælland have seen their players scouted by top clubs and some even moved elsewhere. Their manager, Jens Fønsskov Olsen, claims the current crop of young talents have to handle it.

“It’s something FC Nordsjælland has always stood for, being good at taking care of these things, even before I arrived. You’re just good at it, and we have some good people on staff who prepare them for the hype that will arise, because we’re a place where you want to keep an eye on the young players and see what’s coming and what’s happening,” he said.
