Chelsea’s offer for Boca Juniors youngster Aaron Anselmino is an ‘official’ one, as they move ahead of Manchester United for the defender.

That’s according to La Nacion, who say Chelsea have offered $18m for the 19-year-old and moved ahead of Manchester United, who have been scouting him for some time.

The newspaper reports that Chelsea turned their interest into a concrete bid on Friday, making an official offer to Boca Juniors for the player worth $18m.

Boca’s leadership will analyse that bid but the general consensus at this point is such a bid would be difficult to accept as his current termination clause is $25m.

They also know that the youngster is a ‘jewel’ who has been scouted by numerous clubs in Europe, including Manchester United.

Thus, they want to stick to that $25m release clause fee if they can, although there is scope to negotiate on it if there is an agreement for the player to remain with Boca for a little while longer.

Thus, it seems likely that Chelsea’s first official bid will be rejected at this point, although whether that brings an end to their interest is doubtful.
