After some silence, it’s now time for the Brazilian media to weigh in on Chelsea’s interest in signing Palmeiras midfielder Gabriel Menino.

The chase was previously reported by the English press earlier this week, and now it’s UOL‘s turn to say something more about it.

The outlet claims they have ‘confirmed’ that Chelsea are one of the clubs going after the 20-year-old, alongside Atletico Madrid.

His entourage, however, doesn’t believe a move is happening anytime soon.

According to UOL, besides not getting any official offers as of yet, they consider the market to be ‘cold’, with clubs still analysing their summer targets rather than actively making moves for them.

The player’s staff also claim the player has no preference for a specific country in Europe, since they’re all considered leagues of ‘high levels’.

Gabriel Menino is part of Palmeiras’ young talented generation that recently won the Copa Libertadores and Copa do Brasil titles.

As well as playing as a defensive midfielder, he’s also been called up by the national team in order to play in the right-back role.

Any club wanting to sign him, however, might have to dig deep in their pockets, as Menino is protected with a release clause worth €60m.
