Despite Andrey Santos’ strong recent links with Chelsea and Newcastle United, there are those who believe the youngster isn’t going anywhere for now.
That’s something claimed by SBT journalist Lucas Pedrosa, who shares some updates on the midfielder’s future.
He claims that Andrey Santos ‘is not negotiating and was not negotiated with any club of European football’, as the 18-year-old is said to be focused on having a good season for Vasco da Gama in 2023.
Even though recent stories claimed Chelsea and Newcastle were in talks to sign him, Pedrosa says there’s ‘absolutely nothing in that sense’ at this time.
This week, we covered reports from the French media which said the Blues are close to agreeing a deal for Andrey Santos. A story in the Brazilian press then backed up that the Blues are keen on the player, claiming the transfer was about to be sealed by Vasco da Gama.
Meanwhile, Goal Brasil wrote that Chelsea don’t stand that advanced in talks, and Newcastle still might have a shot at the signing. Now this new report seems to confirm that Andrey is not that close to Stamford Bridge.
