With Mason Mount continuing to showcase great progress and the recent expensive acquisition of Kai Havertz, Chelsea don’t exactly need a new attacking midfielder.

That being said, if the latest reports are to be believed, they are going after one, albeit spending no transfer fee in their attempts to do so.

That man is Hakan Calhanoglu, who is currently running down his contract at Milan in hope of getting a pay rise that isn’t coming.

A new deal has been put forward, but it doesn’t match his expectations, thus opening the door for other clubs to try their luck.

According to Il Milanista, Chelsea are one of those, alongside Arsenal, although it’s said their offer ‘would be lower’ than Milan’s.

This means the Blues will have to put money on the table if they want to secure the signing of Calhanoglu going forward.

First, though, the Turkey international wants to wait and see what Milan can do to satisfy his demands, as a stay would be his favoured option, but if they don’t, perhaps the prospect of playing in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge could become more enticing.
