Not quite done after signing Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara from Juventus, among others, Milan are continuing their recruitment by turning their attention to the Premier League, namely Chelsea.

The man in question is Tiémoué Bakayoko, and Gazzetta dello Sport believe the France international’s transfer to Italy is just ‘a step away’.

Unable to afford him permanently for the time being, the Serie A side are ready to offer the Blues a loan with a view to buy.

Unfortunately, the Italian newspaper aren’t in a position to give us more details, like numbers, but they truly believe this transfer is close to being announced, with a recent ‘acceleration’ in talks, which could prove decisive.

Wanting a new midfielder with ‘especially physical features’, Gennaro Gattuso sees the acquisition of Bakayoko as ‘perfect’ to play down the left hand side of his midfield three.

Chelsea would have preferred to sell their midfielder had that been an option, but with FFP to worry about for the Italians and Maurizio Sarri clearly disinterested in the defensive midfielder, at least doing this way gets the job done now.

All that’s left now is for the Blues to give the green light.
