Chelsea are ‘predisposed’ to sign Getafe left-back Marc Cucurella this season having added him to a ‘preferential’ list this summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who back up reports from England that Chelsea are keen on the former Barcelona man.

Cucurella has spent this season on loan with Getafe, who had a €6m option to turn the deal into a permanent one.

That clause included Barcelona keeping 40% of his rights, though, something Getafe were keen to avoid.

Therefore they have agreed to a €10m deal with Barça to sign him outright, with that deal instead including a 10% sell-on clause instead.

That suits Getafe better, who are aware of the interest in Cucurella this summer.

Mundo explain that ‘Europe does not lose sight of’ him and clubs from the Premier League, Italy and La Liga are all keen.

Chelsea are one of those in England and have ‘positioned themselves’ in recent months, with the newspaper claiming they are the most likely to make a move.

They already attempted to secure his signature in March and, despite being unsuccessful, still, have him on their list of preferred targets.

Their first choice to fill the left-back spot was Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, but the Foxes want €90m, so Frank Lampard has asked for alternatives.

Cucurella is on the list and his versatility, he can play at left-back, left wing-back and left-wing, is a significant bonus for them.

So far there has been no ‘formal offer’ from Stamford Bridge, but Getafe believe that a proposal could be on the way, with Barça attentive to what might happen.
