While mathematically still open, the Serie A title seemed all but decided on Sunday when Napoli lost 3-0 to Fiorentina after Juventus’ 3-2 win over Inter on Saturday.

With four points separating the two sides with three games to go, it seems unlikely the Turin side will falter twice, and that’s why Maurizio Sarri’s future is now being talked about, perhaps a bit sooner than expected.

The Napoli manager has long been a reported Chelsea target, who will most likely part ways with Antonio Conte at the end of the season, but it was always clear he wouldn’t decide on his next step until he either won the league or missed out on it by a hair’s breadth.

Il Mattino on Monday report that, as things stand, ‘the chances of Sarri staying in blue are very few’, which suggests he will be leaving Naples when the current campaign comes to an end.

His next step isn’t clear yet, but Chelsea appear to be the most interested, as Roman Abramovich tries to find the right man to counter Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

However, before any of this summer’s managerial roundabout takes place, the Blues need to get rid of Conte, which is likely going to cost them a pretty penny.

Once that’s sorted, everyone can start getting excited.
