Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso is ‘waiting for the okay’ to travel to Barcelona and complete a move to the Camp Nou.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the player is watching developments after his agent met with the Catalans for a transfer summit.
The newspaper states that Alonso’s move to the club ‘could be rushed’ in the coming hours, with the club working to sort out a deal with Chelsea.
They’re currently locked in negotiations over a deal for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang but have also been discussing Alonso at the same time.
One of Alonso’s agents, Raúl Verdú, was at the Ciutat Esportiva de Sant Joan Despí this morning to meeting with Mateu Ale and Jordi Cruyff in an effort to find a ‘final agreement’ for Alonso to make the move.
Those talks are ‘looking good’ and the player is now waiting for the call to travel to Barcelona and finalise things.
Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel, who has not used the Spaniard in a game this season, has already ‘blessed his departure’ so it should be easy to wrap it up.
The deal is unlikely to exceed €10m and would be feasible once Aubameyang’s departure has been secured in a completely separate deal.
