Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly losing the race for André Gomes. The Valencia midfielder is said to be edging closer to a deal with Juventus, according to reports from Italy.

Gazzetta Dello Sport claim the Old Lady have made a first offer of €30m, which was still far from the €60m demanded by Valencia. But the Italian side are now prepared to bid €40m including bonuses, and the deal doesn’t sound as impossible as before.

Chelsea’s and Manchester United’s disadvantage is still the lack of Champions League football. Gazzetta don’t seem to have any other arguments why Gomes wouldn’t join the English clubs, as no bids or approaches are reported in their article.

The newspaper says the Juventus’ board are optimistic as the negotiations go on. The club have Gomes on top of their shopping list and don’t seem to any longer fear the competition from any Premier League sides.
