Decisive with the final assist on Sunday evening in Barcelona’s 3-2 victory over Real Madrid, Jordi Alba has enjoyed a good season with the La Liga club.

The left-back has enjoyed a rather successful fifth season with the Catalan side, but France Football explain he is now a target for quite a few clubs, and could end up leaving Barcelona in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain are the reason behind this rumour, wanting to pick up a world-class defender to replace the ageing Maxwell, yet they are said to face competition from both Manchester United and Chelsea.

The former of the two’s interest isn’t exactly a surprise, with a lack of cover in the position and José Mourinho’s love-hate, but mostly hate, relationship with Luke Shaw.

Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo have been used there as cover during his down periods, and the acquisition of a natural in the position would make sense.

As for Chelsea, Antonio Conte is in a similar position after moving César Azpilicueta to a more central position, and only having Marcos Alonso bombing up and down his left-hand side all season.

Having another man in that role would certainly help the squad, and allow the Spaniard to get some rest once in a while.

The issue here would be the price, as Jordi Alba’s release clause currently stands at €150m, a price no one in their right mind would pay for a 28-year-old.

This means negotiations, and with Barcelona unlikely to let him go easily, it could be a long drawn out process that ultimately ends up with the player staying at the Nou Camp.

That’s our prediction, anyways.
