As you’ll be aware by now, Andreas Christensen is out of contract at Chelsea this summer, and Barcelona are interested in his signature.
Numerous reports have made it clear that the Catalan giants have been in contact about a free transfer this summer as they continue their rebuild under Xavi.
Indeed, just two days ago, it was claimed that talks were ‘well advanced’ about a move happening, and Mundo Deportivo pick up on that today.
They say that the Chelsea defender is ‘still pondering’ his future at Stamford Bridge and has a renewal proposal from them.
They are not the only club to make him an offer, though, with ‘several other propositions’ on the table, including one from Barcelona.
He’s one of the ‘most-sought-after’ centre-backs on the market and is yet to decide on his future, despite several teams ‘pressing him’ for a clear answer.
Barcelona consider him one of the playes ‘they like the most’ not only because of his qualities but because he would arrive on a free transfer.
There is one major ‘handicap’ for them, though, and that is Christensen’s ‘expectations’ when it comes to wages.
He’s made it clear to his suitors that he wants a salary that is ‘in line with his qualities’, and this is a problem for Barcelona.
Their finances are tight as they are, and their plan to ‘make every financial effort’ to try and convince Erling Haaland to move to the Nou Camp will only limit them further.
Thus, they could struggle to match the Chelsea man’s demands, with the defender determined to ‘take advantage of his situation’ and secure the best deal possible.
Barcelona will therefore need to do some more creative accounting to convince him of the move, which appears to be far from completion at this stage.
