Former Argentina defender Nicolas Burdisso believes Fikayo Tomori can ‘do well in Serie A’ as he continues to shine on loan at AC Milan from Chelsea.
The defender made the switch from Stamford Bridge to the San Siro in the summer, electing to leave Chelsea for regular football after it was made clear he wasn’t in Frank Lampard’s immediate plans.
The centre back has proved to be a major hit at his loan club since arriving, establishing himself under Stefano Pioli and playing a big part in Milan’s success this season.
Indeed, his growing confidence and ability was on show again this week in Milan’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Europa League, in which he put in another assured display.
Several reports out of Italy have already indicated that Milan are thinking about a permanent deal and may even pay the €28m Chelsea insisted they’d want as a purchase option.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, but Burdisso, who made over 326 appearances in Serie A for Inter Milan, Roma, Genoa and Torino, is impressed by what he has seen.
“Tomori? I heard good things about him when he was at Chelsea,” he told Sky Sport 24, relayed by Milan News.
“It’s important for a defender to come to Italy; he’s physically exuberant, he can do well in Serie A, especially during a positive moment for Milan.”
