Lazio centre-back Mario Gila has been linked with a host of clubs across Europe and it seems as if Chelsea have come forward to land him.

Rome newspaper Il Messaggero, as relayed by L’Interista, today report the Spaniard is likely to be ‘sacrificed’ in the market by Lazio, largely due to their failure to qualify for European competition next season.

Chelsea are looking to take advantage of that, and it’s claimed they’ve made a €35m offer for the defender. There’s confidence the approach has been made, but belief that Lazio will not sell for that price.

The Serie A club would want Chelsea to meet the €50m asking price, because Real Madrid have a 50% sell-on clause in Gila’s current contract.

Lazio want to earn as much as they can from the sale, having signed him from Los Blancos for a fee of €6m in the summer of 2022. The 24-year-old has been a regular leader at the back since his arrival, having played 43 times in all competitions in the 2024/25 season.
