Dries Mertens has been linked with several Premier League clubs during January.
West Ham came first with it being claimed Mertens turned the Hammers down. His wife had been keen on the move but Mertens himself rejected it, wanting to stay at Napoli until the end of the current season.
With a contract expiring in June, the Belgium international would be able to pick the club which suits him best in the summer.
Recent days have seen Chelsea linked, regarding a move for the January window. CalcioNapoli24 now have what they say is the latest on the player’s future.
According to them, Chelsea made a €10m offer and this has been rejected by Napoli. They don’t rule out a move before tonight’s deadline, but it’s thought to be an unlikely outcome as things stand.
Mertens is currently waiting to see if there’s any developments, and it’s pointed out his move to Chelsea would allow Olivier Giroud to leave the London club.
