On Thursday, an article on an English website that shall not be named caught our attention, claiming that Chelsea’s Tiemoué Bakayoko was of interest to Marseille despite being on loan at Milan.
As is standard procedure for the outlet, no source was mentioned despite them claiming ‘according to a new report’, clearly trying to claim the information as their own in some shape or form.
So, we decided to do a little digging, and it wasn’t long until we came across the original article, which came from TuttoMercatoWeb.
According to the Italian website, the player’s agent has been informed by the Milan hierarchy to find his client a new club, which is where Marseille, where Rudi Garcia is allegedly trying to bolster his midfield, come in.
They aren’t the only club, however, as Monaco, now managed by Thierry Henry, are also said to be keeping an eye on their former player, who has spent his most successful years as a footballer, so far, in the principality.
Such a deal would avoid Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri having to make room for Bakayoko during the second half of the season, and would allow the defensive midfielder to get some minutes under his belt in an environment he knows well.
TuttoMercatoWeb also state it is now ‘impossible’ for Milan to think about buying the France international from Chelsea, as even a new manager, should they move on from Gennaro Gattuso, would be pushed towards the likes of Torino’s Daniele Baselli instead.
This is just the latest of many reports suggesting the Serie A side’s patience with Bakayoko is running thin, and there rarely tends to be smoke without fire.
